High Yielding AT&T Increases Dividend Again

AT&T (T: 25.505 -0.06%) announced on December 18th that its Board of Directors has approved a 2.4% increase in their quarterly dividend to $.42 per share.

 

AT&T’s current high dividend yield now stands at 6.1% and is currently the highest yielding stock in the Dow Jones index.

 

The dividend will be payable on February 1, 2010 to shareholders of record as of January 8, 2010.

 

Since the beginning of 2009, AT&T’s shares have fallen 3% and have underperformed the 19% gain in the Dow Jones index.

 

AT&T has now increased their quarterly dividend for 26 consecutive years.

 

“Our 26th consecutive annual dividend increase underscores the Board’s continued commitment to stockholders and confidence in our strong financial position,” said Randall Stephenson, AT&T chairman and chief executive officer.
