Restaurant operator Brinker International (EAT: 27.45 +0.81%) announced today that their Board of Directors has approved a quarterly dividend of $.11 per share.
Brinker’s current dividend yield now stands at 2.5%.
The dividend will be payable on June 24, 2009 to shareholders of record as of June 15, 2009.
The markets responded positively to the news today, sending EAT’s shares up 2.3% to close at $17.90. Since the beginning of the year, Brinker has been one of the markets top performers with their shares up 70% in 2009.
Brinker International operates popular family restaurants Chili’s, On The Border Mexican Grill and Maggiano’s Little Italy. Low gas prices and increased value promotions appear to be driving traffic to the restaurants despite the bad economy.
